The perfect balance between chaos and calm.
Once again, Panama amazed us in July 2024 with a perfect mix of conditions: rough seas followed by completely calm days. It was precisely this contrast that made the trip an unforgettable fishing experience.
The rough days activated jigging like never before, with groupers, amberjacks, explosive strikes, and broken lines—pure power coming from the depths. But when the sea calmed down, popping took the spotlight, and that's where we had the best moments of the trip. The transition from chaotic action to serene popping sessions created the ideal fishing adventure, one that will stay with us for a long time.
Extreme popping: when everything turns into chaos.
We had days when it seemed like every fish in the water wanted to smash the poppers. One cubera snapper completely leapt out of the water to attack, leaving a trail of foam and screams on deck. Some got away, as always. But every second was pure adrenaline.
Then came the unexpected: a record-breaking day with 21 roosterfish. Yes, twenty-one, with five of them being exceptional in size, the biggest weighing an estimated 30-35 kilos. To top it off, we also hooked into sailfish, solid tunas ranging from 15 to 30 kilos, and many other species that refused to miss the party. It was an epic fishing adventure where the excitement never stopped.
Incredible.
There's no other way to describe it. Few places in the world offer this variety, this intensity, and that constant feeling that anything could happen with the next cast. Panama, once again, has earned its title as a paradise for popping and jigging enthusiasts... Oh, and the variety is just unbeatable.
