The Andaman Islands hold some of the most productive and least pressured fishing grounds in the Indian Ocean. Remote volcanic reefs, offshore banks few anglers ever reach, and a fishery that remains genuinely wild — this is andaman fishing at its most intense.
At Sparidae, we fish these waters differently. We go further offshore, stay longer on the spots that produce, and operate in small, focused groups. Our expeditions are built around access — to places that take two hours to reach by boat, where the fish have never seen a lure before.
We go where other charters don’t.
Most andaman fishing operations work the same reefs around Port Bailr day after day.
We built our expeditions around a different premise — offshore access to volcanic banks, seamounts and island systems that see almost no angling pressure. Places that take two hours to reach by speed boat. Places that don’t appear on standard charts.
Volcano Island— Barren Island India’s only active volcano rises from deep water two hours offshore (100km) The volcanic structure creates walls, current-swept points and bait concentrations that attract Giant Trevally, Dogtooth Tuna and pelagics in numbers that consistently surprise even experienced anglers.
The Invisible & The Incredible Banks: Offshore Banks ( 80km and 130km away). The fish here is really wild and have never seen a lure. The surface aggression is exactly what you would expect from a completely wild fishery. One of the best jigging and popping areas.
Narcondam Island — Extreme Expedition: A totally unexplored volcanic island. 1st expedition: 1-10th MAY 2027. One of the most remote and unfished destinations in India. We made a proposal to get there. We need to modify all the logistics to make it happen. Only Fanatics. Fisherman must be open to spend nights at the sea sleeping on board. This is not a day charter. This is an expedition built around access.
The waters surrounding Barren Island and the remote reef banks we fish hold some of the most powerful and aggressive species in the Indian Ocean. Andaman fishing is defined by strength, depth and unpredictability — every strike can change the day in seconds.
Giant Trevally — Popping in Andaman GT, is the primary target and the reason most anglers make this journey. Popping in Andaman produces some of the most explosive surface strikes we have witnessed across all our destinations. GT patrol the reef edges constantly, and when conditions align the surface activity becomes relentless. Average range runs 10–20 kg, solid fish reach 25–30 kg, and exceptional specimens approaching 40 kg are a realistic possibility on the right session. Andaman fishing requires a mixed combo of popping and stickbait rods.
Dogtooth Tuna — Jigging in Andaman targets one of the most powerful fish in these waters. Dogtooth hold over deep volcanic structure between 50 and 100 metres. We work heavy jigs in the 180–250g range, matched to PE4–8 braid. Getting them to the surface requires technical precision and serious physical effort.
Grouper, Pelagics & Mixed Species. The same offshore banks also hold large grouper in deeper structure, coral trouts, Maori sea perch, red bass, Napoleon wrasse. Sessions closer to reef offer mixed-species action — kingfish, snapper, trevally species and opportunistic pelagics.
Our Andaman fishing expedition is designed for anglers who want more than a guided day on pressured water. It is built for people who understand that serious fishing requires serious commitment — in terms of physical effort, tackle preparation and mental focus. That said, you do not need to be a veteran offshore angler.
If this is your first Giant Trevally, the Andaman fishing experience offers one of the best possible environments to connect with one — consistent surface activity, fish that have not seen pressure, and a format that maximises your time on productive water. For experienced GT and dogtooth anglers, the Extreme Expedition and the access to Narcondam Island represents the kind of opportunity that very few destinations in the world can offer: genuinely unfished water, extreme offshore structure and fish that behave accordingly.
The prime season for Andaman fishing runs from October to December and from February to April, when sea conditions allow safe access to the outer reefs. During these months, offshore navigation is more stable and long-range runs can be planned with greater consistency.
The summer period brings monsoon winds and heavy rainfall, making it unsuitable for serious offshore fishing. For this reason, expeditions are scheduled only within the productive windows. Within those months, we carefully select the best tidal movements and aim for the calmest weather periods to maximize both fishing performance and access to distant volcanic banks.
The reason the Andaman fishing we experience is exceptional is directly connected to the state of the fishery. Lightly pressured reefs, fish with no knowledge of artificial lures, ecosystems that remain intact — these are not accidents.
They are the result of limited access and responsible behaviour from the anglers who fish here. We operate with a clear conservation mindset. Catch and release is strongly encouraged for Giant Trevally and Dogtooth Tuna.
We teach and enforce proper fish handling techniques on every session. The goal is not the photograph — it is the next angler’s chance at the same fish. We are transparent about variables. Offshore fishing in genuinely wild environments means weather, currents and fish behaviour are never fully predictable. We never make promises we cannot keep. What we guarantee is full effort, honest communication and access to the best water we know.
